Framing & Structural Carpentry in Aurora & Denver

Framing is the skeleton every other trade hangs on. If the framing is square, plumb, and properly engineered, the drywall, cabinets, tile, and trim that follow all go in clean. BDT Construction frames new spaces and structural changes across the Denver metro to a standard the rest of the build can rely on.

Framing in the Denver metro

Whether we're framing a finished basement, a home addition, or a remodel that moves walls around, the fundamentals don't change: level, plumb, square, and on layout. Sloppy framing compounds — every trade after it pays for the mistakes — so we take the time to build it right. Walls that are true make for doors that close, floors that don't bounce, and finishes that line up.

Structural changes are a specialty. Removing a wall to open a floor plan, adding a header for a wider opening, or installing a beam to carry a load all require knowing what's bearing weight and how to redistribute it safely. We identify load-bearing walls, engineer and install properly sized beams and headers, and reinforce the load path down to the foundation. This is not guesswork — it's engineered and inspected.

Our carpentry scope includes interior and exterior wall framing, floor and ceiling systems, beam and header installation, soffits and bulkheads to conceal mechanicals, blocking for cabinets and fixtures, stairs, and the structural prep that sets up a successful finish. We frame for the trades that follow, leaving clean cavities and correct rough openings for windows, doors, plumbing, and HVAC.

Code compliance is built in. Fire blocking, proper fastening schedules, header sizing, and shear requirements are all part of how we frame and all part of what gets inspected. We pull the necessary permits and schedule framing inspections so the structure is signed off before it gets covered.

Framing rarely gets the glory — it's hidden behind the walls — but it determines whether the finished project is excellent or merely okay. We treat it as the foundation of craft it is, so everything built on top of it performs.

Common questions

Framing FAQ

Straight answers to what Denver-metro homeowners ask us about this service.

How do I know if a wall is load-bearing?

Load-bearing walls typically run perpendicular to floor joists, sit above a beam or foundation wall, or support a wall directly above them. We verify by inspecting the framing and structure rather than guessing — and when a load-bearing wall comes out, we engineer and install the beam to carry it.

Can you remove a wall to open up my floor plan?

Yes. We determine whether the wall carries load, size and install the proper beam and posts if it does, and reinforce the path down to the foundation. The work is engineered, permitted, and inspected so your open floor plan is safe as well as beautiful.

Do framing changes need a permit?

Structural framing changes — removing bearing walls, adding beams or headers, altering the load path — require a permit and inspection in Denver-metro jurisdictions. BDT pulls the permits and schedules framing inspections so the structure is approved before it's covered with drywall.
